    Goldfinch Baptisia (Baptisia sphaerocarpa 'Goldfinch')

    A hardy, long-lived perennial in the Pea Family, Baptisia ‘Goldfinch’ is a bushy selection known for its vibrant golden-yellow flower spikes in late spring to early summer. Native to the southeastern and south-central U.S., this nitrogen-fixing legume features blue-green trifoliate foliage and sturdy stems, reaching 3-4 feet tall and wide. After blooming, it develops distinctive spherical seed pods that add interest to the winter landscape. Thriving in full sun and well-drained soils, ‘Goldfinch’ is highly drought-tolerant once established. Pairs well with native grasses, Blazing Stars, Butterfly Milkweed, and Purple Coneflower.
