Both the leaves and the flowers of Heartleaf Skullcap are equally attractive. Heart-shaped leaves are highly textured with strong silver and purple tones--especially new growth and in cooler months. Purple-Blue flowers are born atop a terminal raceme 3-12" long. Blooms occur over a long period a time, with just handful being open at a time. This skullcap works great as a groundcover in the woodland garden, where it will spread at a moderate speed over time. Pairs well with Dwarf Crested Iris, Wild Geranium, Woodland Phlox, Green and Gold, and Christmas Fern.
