This is a short, upright, early fall blooming aster that has high pollinator value. The pale purple/blue flowers are about 1” across and provide both pollen and nectar for a large variety of insects. The needle-like foliage adds great texture to the sunny pollinator garden and sets the aster apart from many of our other fall blooming asters. This species is very drought tolerant and can be used effectively in rock gardens or other dry areas. Flax-Leaf Aster forms clumps, rather than running and stays quite tidy. It makes an excellent Aster choice for small or container gardens. Pairs well with Butterfly Milkweed, Little Bluestem, Baptisia sp., Poppy Mallows, and Maryland Golden Aster
