Indian Pink (Spigelia marilandica)
Strychnine FamilyIndian pink is a stunning woodland plant that is fairly easy to grow and becoming ever more popular in the home garden. Bright red flowers have yellow throats that look like stars from above. The deep throats of the flowers and red color make these a favorite of hummingbirds. Tolerates average soil and a little bit of moisture. Naturally found on rich, wooded slopes. Plant with Christmas Fern, Hairy Alumroot, or Eastern Columbine.
