    Grey Goldenrod (Solidago nemoralis)
    Aster Family

This is one of our shortest and toughest Goldenrods. Grey goldenrod, tops out at just 2' and is usually closer to 12-18". It will grow where most other plants won't, including dry, rocky, or hard clay soils, and nutrient depleted fields. In fertile, moist conditions, it can spread somewhat aggressively, but if planted in a tough spot, it should have an average spread rate. Leaves and stems are covered in small grayish hairs, giving the plant its Grey Goldenrod name. Like all Goldenrods, it is an extremely beneficial plant for a given habitat, attracting hundreds of pollinator types while also supplying its leaves, stems, and seeds for numerous more. This species blooms a little later than most of our other commonly cultivated species, and can increase your Goldenrod bloom time into November.
