Zigzag Goldenrod (Solidago flexicaulis)
Aster FamilyThis diminutive goldenrod is one of the most shade tolerant species and will fit right into the woodland garden. Bright yellow flowers bloom starting in late summer, and continue into early fall. This can be an aggressive spreader in ideal conditions, but the benefits of goldenrods to the ecosystem make it worth it. Prefers organically rich soil in part shade, but may stay in check if planted in poor soil. Pairs well with Green and Gold, American Alumroot, Eastern Columbine, and Blue Monkshood.
