Product Info
Basil Beebalm (Monarda clinopodia)
Mint Family
This white flowered beebalm is most commonly seen in the mountains. It is one of the most shade tolerant of the genus, and can be planted, and will even prefer part shade conditions in the Piedmont. This species will spread fast through rhizomes like some other beebalms, but is not as afflicted with powdery mildew. The nectar rich flowers attract all sorts of long-tongued pollinators, particularly hummingbirds and butterflies. Can be cut in half in early spring to promote bushier, more upright growth.
