Dwarf Blazing-star (Liatris microcephala)

This diminutive Blazing star is perfect for a sunny, dry, front border location. Small grass-like basal foliage gives rise to multiple flowering stems with rosy purple flowers in late summer. It prefers particularly lean soils, and will not tolerate being too wet over winter. It pairs nicely with Little Bluestem, Royal Catchfly, Butterfly Milkweed, and Purple Coneflower.
