American Burnet is naturally found in wet meadows, swampy areas, and bogs. This plant needs consistent moisture and lots of sun to thrive. Fuzzy-looking, white flowers are wand-like and open slowly starting in mid-late summer. Foliage is bright green, resembling that of a rose, and can turn vibrant shades of red and yellow in the fall. It spreads by rhizomes to form small colonies over time, but is not aggressive. It is considered rare, threatened or endangered across most of its range.
