Copper Iris (Iris fulva)
Iris Family
The copper color of this iris is unique and striking in the landscape. The 2-3” flowers are open just a few days, but are a hummingbird magnet. Plants prefer consistently moist or wet soils, but can handle small periods of drought when established. They can easily be grown in a container to meet high moisture needs. Foliage declines throughout the summer, but fresh green leaves emerge for fall and winter interest. Works well with moisture loving sedges and grasses, Spiderworts, Great Blue Lobelia, & Virginia Meadow-beauty.
