Golden St.John's-Wort (Hypericum frondosum)
St. John's Wort FamilyThis St.John’s-wort is known for its compact form and overall tidy appearance. Growing only about 3’ wide and tall, this shrub maintains a nice round shape and is not prone to flopping. Blue-green leaves are semi-evergreen in our area, and turn shades of purple, yellow, orange, and red during the colder months. The bright, yellow flowers have prominent stamens that attract all sorts of bees. Grows in full sun or part shade in average soil–tolerates sandy and/or rocky soil. This shrub can be grown as a specimen plant or in mass as a formal looking border plant.
