Foamflower (Tiarella cordifolia)
Rockfoil FamilyThis woodland wildflower makes a great groundcover for shady spaces in average to moist soils. The foliage typically stays evergreen or at least semi-evergreen in our Piedmont climate and tends to take on hues of purple and red in the winter. In early spring white plumes of flowers rise up to attract various small bees and flies. Planted in mass, these are truly stunning plants. Foamflower also makes a particularly good container plant--try it in a pot with Christmas Fern. They do not tolerate sticky clay or too much sun.
