Product Info
Thimbleweed (Anemone virginiana)
Buttercup Family
A plant with 3 season interest, Thimbleweed starts by sending up 1’ flowering stalks. White flowers are actually 5 sepals surrounding a lime green thimble of stamens and pistils. The thimble will slowly turn into a dense, woolly mass of seeds that perch firmly atop the flowering stalks all winter long. Dark green basal foliage with purple accents and deep cut leaves remain mostly evergreen in our climate. This wildflower works well in a woodland garden or a cottage garden. It pairs nicely with grasses, Ironweeds, and Goldenrods.
