Product Info
Pretty Sedge (Carex woodii)
Sedge FamilyPretty Sedge was thrown into the spotlight after Mt. Cuba's excellent trial and review of native sedges. It was rated as the best performer in the garden for ornamental value and its versatility as a potential lawn replacement. This sedge is naturally found in shady woodlands, so performs well in with little sunlight, but is also suitable for part sun and some full sun in more moderate climates. It will spread slowly over time through rhizomes to form a thick, semi-evergreen mat of foliage. Carex woodii can be an excellent lawn replacement for shaded or woodland areas, offering a low-maintenance, visually appealing alternative to traditional grass.
